“My acrylic paintings explore the dramatic, fluid motion of Newfoundland and Labrador’s coastlines. Having spent my life shaped by the Atlantic, I draw deeply from memories of the ever-changing sea and the vibrant shifts of our local seasons.
Rather than strictly replicating a photograph, my process is intuitive and emotional. I begin each piece with a loose sketch, then apply paint in deliberate layers. This allows me to shifts shapes and intensify colours until the canvas matches my internal interpretation of the day. Driven by a love for our province’s rich history and a subtle sense of local humour, my work captures the raw energy of these seascapes to invite viewers to pause and appreciate the beauty of our natural world.”
Painting for me is a way to connect with and appreciate the world around me, and I hope to inspire others to do the same through my art.
Today, I call Conception Bay South, NL home where I live with my wife Shelley.
