A Bridge No More – Fine Art Print

Price range: $35.00 through $90.00

This print of an original acrylic painting portrays a historic bridge that once connected two Newfoundland islands that formed Exploits Islands, preserving the memory of an important link between neighbouring islands. Set against the beauty of the surrounding shoreline and water, the bridge stands as a symbol of connection, resilience, and the changing nature of life along the Atlantic coast. Rich textures, expressive brushwork, and vibrant natural colours bring warmth and depth to the composition while honouring a structure that played a meaningful role in local history. Titled “A Bridge No More,” the painting reflects on the passage of time and celebrates the enduring memories of places that continue to live on through the stories and experiences of those who knew them.

The painting is a representation of the concrete bridge that was built in 1945, serving as a crucial connection between the two islands of Exploits Islands, Newfoundland. The first bridge connecting the two islands was built around 1899 and was a wooden structure, later converted to a drawbridge.

The concrete bridge was demolished in 1988 and today the only way to travel between the islands is by boat.
