Exploits Islands is a community located Notre Dame Bay, Newfoundland, Canada. Its strategic location made it an ideal hub for sealing, fishing, and trading with Labrador. But by the late 1960s, the community had been largely resettled. Today, the community only consists of seasonal residents.
The reference photo was taken in Exploits Upper harbour, looking in a North West direction. You can see the old school house on top of the hill (which is still there), and the old Anglican church is just under the school which is no longer there.
